MedSafe is an ultimate-user unused medication collection and disposal system. This easy-to-operate system accepts controlled (Schedules II-V), non-controlled, and over-the-counter medicines. It operates under the October 2014 DEA rules and regulations.
To date, Sharps’ solutions (MedSafe and TakeAway envelopes) have facilitated the proper destruction of over 310,000 pounds of unused medications, including controlled substances. The twenty MedSafe solutions to be given away are expected to facilitate the disposal of an additional 10,000 pounds of unused medications on an annual basis.
To be eligible for the contest and in accordance with the applicable DEA regulations, your facility must fall into one of the following categories:
- Retail pharmacy,
- Narcotic treatment,
- Long-term care,
- Law enforcement, or
- Hospital with on-site pharmacy.

Value of Promotion ranges from $4,320 for an 18-Gallon MedSafe up to a value of $4,350 for a 38-Gallon MedSafe, both with thirteen inner liners. Eligible participants are limited to the United States, except the states of Rhode Island, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Alaska, Mississippi, and Missouri, the territory of Puerto Rico, or where prohibited by law.
