Sharps Compliance recently announced the essay topic for its semiannual scholarship contest. Each semester Sharps hosts a contest for college and university students studying healthcare. $1,500, $1,000, and $750 scholarships are awarded to first, second, and third prize winners, respectively.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently finalized a new rule on pharmaceutical management, Management Standards for Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals. One tenet of the new rule eliminates the intentional sewering of Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals (HWP). Why is stopping this practice in the healthcare sector so important? Please promote discussion on stopping the sinking and trashing of all pharmaceutical waste in your response.
The deadline to submit essays is Friday, November 29, 2019. To enter, students must submit an essay and an application, which they may email to scholarship@sharpsinc.com or mail to Attn: Michele Guzman, Sharps Compliance, 9220 Kirby Drive, Ste. 500, Houston, TX 77054.
