The deadline for Sharps Compliance’s biannual scholarship essay contest is Monday, June 11, 2018. Students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, who are studying a healthcare-related major, are eligible to enter. A first, second, and third prize of $750, $1000, and $1500 will be awarded, respectively.
The Fall 2018 essay topic is below:
“You have seen the recent news about the opioid epidemic that has surfaced in the United States. Drug overdose deaths, due to the drug addiction and the opioid crisis plaguing the US, is now the leading cause of unintentional deaths, impacting nearly every community across all 50 states. Please describe in detail how a drug collection program could be successful using local drug stores as the collection point with a pharmaceutical collection receptacle, such as the Sharps MedSafe. What conditions must be met in the pharmacy?”
To enter the contest, applicants must submit their essay along with an application by June 11. Essays and applications can be emailed to scholarship@sharpsinc.com or mailed to Attn: Michele Guzman, Sharps Compliance, Inc., 9220 Kirby Drive, Ste. 500, Houston, TX 77054.
Winners will be announced on Friday, July 13.
