The deadline for Sharps Compliance’s scholarship contest is quickly approaching. College students studying a healthcare-related field at a college or university are eligible to enter. On June 22, Sharps will announce the winners for $1,500, $1,000, and $750 scholarships.

Topic: COVID’s Impact on the Long-Term Care Industry

The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted nursing homes and other long-term care facilities due to high mortality rates among their residents, staffing shortages, and infection control issues. Proper segregation of pharmaceutical and regulated medical wastes within these settings is highly regulated but difficult to execute during a pandemic when staff is directing their attention elsewhere.
